Suzie Bowling has been involved in dance for over 40 years as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer. Though most of her training has been in ballet, she has also been trained in jazz. In Maryland, she danced with the Towson State Dance Company as a college student, and after graduating she danced with the Ellicott City Ballet Guild. In Tallahassee, she has danced with Pas de Vie Ballet and the Women’s Dance Project. Her teaching experience includes Caryl Maxwell Ballet in Maryland, and in Tallahassee she has taught at Susan Ice Dance, Moore Elementary Afterschool Program, Dance Electric, Pas de Vie Ballet, and Community Christian School (CCS). She is currently teaching Adult Ballet at Pas de Vie Ballet. Since 2000, Suzie has choreographed many of the CCS musicals, as well as diverse dances for CCS plays and past CCS Arts Concerts. She has also choreographed the dances for her “Breath of Life” dancers at CCS, which were performed locally.
Suzie believes that dance is a gift from God and is so much fun! It is a wonderful opportunity from our loving Father to learn to trust Him. God gives each one of us something we love to do, a part of Himself, so that we may bring Him to the world through our gift. The dancers learn to believe God for the steps, combinations, and eventually the dances themselves through faith, hard work, persistence, and focus. Her prayer is that when the bigger challenges of life come, her students will remember how God showed them the way in their dance steps and that they will believe and rest in Him for the bigger “steps” of life. “With God all things are possible.” (Matt. 19:26)…even pirouettes!
