Originally from California, Joyce was born into a military family, relocating often and experiencing life in many different cultures both at home and abroad. Her introduction to the performing arts began at a very young age, starting private piano and violin lessons as an elementary-aged student and continuing on through high school. Joyce attended the FSU College of Music studying performance with violin as her principal instrument. While minoring in music, Joyce decided to pursue her other lifelong passion of caring for people and entered the FSU College of Nursing, graduating in 1992 with a BSN. As an eager college graduate, she was commissioned into the U.S. Navy as an officer and served in the Nurse Corps for the following six years, gaining invaluable administrative and leadership skills at her duty stations- U.S. Navy Hospitals in Oak Harbor, WA and Yokosuka, Japan. Following her military service, Joyce became a stay-at-home wife and mother, an experience which has been the joy of her life.
Moving to Tallahassee in 2013, Joyce and her husband, along with their three teenage boys, are happy to call North Florida “home”. Joyce and her family are active members at Wildwood Church, and she enjoys opportunities to participate as a musician on the worship team. Joyce came on staff as an Administrative Assistant for Wildwood Ballet in the spring of 2016 and feels privileged to use the gifts God has given her for His glory through the art of dance.
