Ircamar García Rodríguez is a Puerto Rican dancer, choreographer, performer, and teacher. Her training background ranges from classical ballet, modern and contemporary techniques, and jazz, to Latin dances, worship dance, and theater. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Education from the University of Puerto Rico and a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from Florida State University. During her 12-year artistic career in the island, she worked with HincapiéContemporary Dance Companyunder the artistic direction of Petra Bravo, DramadanzaCompany directed by Waldo Gonzalez, and Ballet Bríounder Rodney Rivera’s direction. Bringing restoration to people's lives physically, emotionally, and spiritually through dancing for Christ is one of her passions. She worked in Puerto Rico with Dánzale International Ministries, for whom she choreographed many works, including Salmo 27and Alpha y Omega, and this year she was commissioned to choreograph a new work to be premiered in the island in October of 2018 as one of the pieces of the concert Resurgence.Resurgencewill bring to life different pieces inspired by stories from the Hurricane Maria, which brought great devastation to the island in September of 2017. Through this concert, choreographers aim to bring hope and healing to the lives impacted by the hurricane, as well as to bring awareness to others of what Puerto Rico went through and is still going through, as it slowly recovers. Furthermore, she has performed internationally in Italy, Sicily, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and the United States. Her theatrical and singing skills have allowed her to perform in musicals, includingEvita andMaria de Buenos Aire, operetta where she playedthe leading role as “the shadow” of María. Her certifications as a Balanced Body Pilates and Progressing Ballet Technique Instructor, has provided her teaching methods with invaluable knowledge and practice on the proper strengthening and conditioning of the body.
Last year at Wildwood Ballet, under the direction of Robin Stuyverson, she was given the opportunity to lead, alongside Rebecca Krumel, the Worship Dance Ensemble of Wildwood Ballet, discipling dancers and creating pieces to spread the gospel through dance in the Tallahassee community in churches throughout the city including Wildwood Church, Freedom Church, and Life Deliverance Ministries. This year, she created and started leading the Worship Dance Ministryat Freedom Church, under the pastoral direction of Pastor Larry Perry. She also has had the privilege and honor of being selected to serve in the Feast of the Tabernacles Dance Company at Israel in September of 2018. She gives all glory, honor and praise to the Lord Jesus for her life and given her the purpose and passion to share the gift of dance with the world!
